June Career Development SIG: Show Your Work: How to Build an Online Portfolio

  • 28 Jun 2021
  • 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
  • Online

June 28, 2021 6:30-8:00pm

Hosted by: Laurie Barnett
Facilitator: Kim Valliere

Whether you are searching for a job or not, it is extremely important to build a portfolio of your work. Potential employers value being able to see your work, especially if they can see it online before the interview. Building your very own online portfolio is MUCH easier than you think. With free and easy-to-use tools, your website will (almost) build itself. All you need is a few work samples to highlight. Are you now worried that you cannot use the work you've produced for your current company? We'll discuss that problem too!

In this session, you will:

  • Discover ideas for creating work that you can use on a website.
  • Learn how to build a website.

General website knowledge is helpful, but not required.

About the facilitator:

Kimberly Valliere is a Sr. Program Manager/Curriculum Developer specializing in eLearning development with Articulate Storyline. She manages the North Texas Articulate User Group and previously served on the ATD Dallas Executive Board. Her love for teaching others became evident while working with Louisiana State University undergraduate students to help them build strong communication skills. During this time, Kimberly earned a Masters in Human Resource Education from LSU.

When: June 28, 2021 6:30 - 8PM

Where: Virtual:

Getting Ready:

1. Use the Zoom app on your mobile phone, connected to a 4G network for the best possible experience. Or use a computer or tablet connected to WiFi, making sure you have a stable connection with good bandwidth for a streaming video/audio connection.

2. If you plan to use a computer for the video AND a phone for the audio, make sure you mute the audio features on one of your devices to avoid disruptive audio feedback/noise.

3. Come prepared to join in the discussion!

Come and network with your fellow ATD members and colleagues. We look forward to being together (in a remote way!)
