PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Director of Instructional Design will partner and consult with key FMCNA department leaders in various business groups to identify and develop solutions to improve the performance, skills, and knowledge of their employees. The incumbent will consult with business leaders to understand the gaps between current and required knowledge to achieve desired business results. This role will manage a team of Instructional Designers and others who will develop and implement multi-phased leadership development strategies that are aligned with company goals and support the business objectives and culture.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directs and oversees content, curriculum development and deployment for multiple audiences and a variety of programs, skills, products and strategies including but not limited to; new clinical or administrative processing tools, emerging leader and leadership development programs, and senior leadership and executive development.
Builds, trains, and manages a high performing, multi-disciplinary Instructional Design team; including application of instructional technologies, instructional design processes and the evaluation of processes to support operational efficiency and innovations that improve or enhance service levels and use of resources.
Directs prioritization and resource balancing of team members against business objectives and goals
Directs and oversees development of learning programs to ensure maximum effectiveness of new and existing leaders and teams at FMCNA.
Partners with Delivery, Learning Operations and LMS teams within CLPD to ensure content and processes are socialized with others and work is prepared with involvement of other team members
Establishes and maintains relationship with Career Pathways to ensure inclusion of ideas for Tiers 1 and 2 of Clinic Management Program
Conducts project management responsibilities with rigorous accountability, high quality standards and focus on meeting or exceeding timelines.
Select partners or vendors for curriculum development projects; assess external programs for potential organizational fit and cost effectiveness.
Develops designs and maintains content for training program websites. Develops and manages training technology deployment platforms.
Other duties as assigned.
Will be responsible for the direct supervision of various levels of related staff (such as a team of instructional designers, graphic designers, instructional technologists, performance consultants, project managers, or curriculum developers, either permanent or contracting employees).
Bachelor’s Degree (such as in Education, Management, Psychology, or related field) required; Advanced Degree (such as Master degree in Instructional Design) desirable.
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
8 years plus experience as a Senior Instructional Designer and/or Performance Consultant
3+ years’ experience as a Manager preferred.
SHRM Certification (SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP) is desirable, or a plus.
Demonstrated ability to manage one or more departments.
Extensive experience partnering with multiple internal and external partners, stakeholders, and constituents to design and develop effective corporate learning programs based on adult learning principles and sound instructional design methods.
Proven ability to lead transition to cost effective blended learning programs, including traditional classroom training balanced with self-paced eLearning and virtual instructor led training.
Broad business experience working within and managing the training discipline to develop and deploy strategic business initiatives.
Proven management and leadership experience in instructional design and program management.
Extensive experience with online instruction and performance support, including website development.
Expert knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design methods and performance technology.
Advanced technical writing and editing skills required.
Advanced critical thinking, diagnostic, analysis, and synthesis skills.
Experience in managing multiple projects at different stages, while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
Must be precise, thorough, and detail-oriented.
Ability to work collaboratively and creatively in a deadline driven environment.
Demonstrated effectiveness as a performance consultant, training and development specialist, and instructional designer.
Effectively build relationships with senior leadership as well as educational institutions, vendors, professional organizations, and community organizations, etc.
Excellent oral communication and presentation skills.
Outstanding relationship building and influence skills with clients and colleagues.
Software requirements: Expert level in software such as MS Office, Storyline 2, Captivate.
