Position Description:

In this role, you will be in charge of learning design and development efforts by applying your knowledge of best practices in andragogy. You’ll collaborate with consultants, portfolio managers, multimedia developers, technology platform team, and subject matter experts to create learning experiences that demonstrate sound adult learning strategies, produce desired learning outcomes, and develop targeted competencies. As a Senior Instructional Designer, you’ll need to be able to thrive and succeed in a very collaborative, fast-paced environment with competing priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Scope and estimate level of effort for project deliverables
Devise creative solutions strategies that meet the business needs and solve business problems
Design and develop learning materials in accordance with established design models for instructor and virtual instructor-led training, multimedia, video, and other learning-related materials
Consult with other instructional designers, portfolio managers, consultants, or subject matter experts regarding learning strategies, blended design, and business requirements that impact the learning needs and learning solutions initiatives
Conduct analyses of target audience, training requirements, and media requirements
Design training materials and assessments in adherence to brand standards
Test training materials to ensure their quality
Participate in and lead special projects as required
Contribute to thought leadership on instructional design best practices and implementation of blended learning, including identifying and implementing innovative technologies and approaches
Conduct learning assessments to determine the most effective learning activities and course designs that align with organizational goals, strategies, and competencies
Oversee and guide virtual learning activities, including webinars, e-learning courses, videos, animations, and e-games
Strengthen the capacity of subject matter experts to conduct effective training sessions in face-to-face workshops or virtual learning platforms
Collaborate strategically with team members on cross-functional training approaches to best serve the client’s needs
Respond to on-demand requests that focus on curriculum development, the use of technology, or communications skills


Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work on your own and with diverse teams
Ability to learn new tools and processes quickly with little guidance or documentation
Ability to edit and perform quality assurance (QA) on your own work
Experience in designing and facilitating interactive learning experiences and designing curricula based on experiential learning, adult learning principles, and using blended learning and innovative learning technologies
Knowledge of the principles of learning including adult learning, learning styles theory, participatory methods, instructional design, whole systems design and related topics
Exhibit solid interpersonal and communication skills that enable successful internal and external interaction in a variety of modes including face-to-face meetings, phone calls, phone conferences, virtual meetings, and written communication
Work effectively with client subject matter experts (SMEs)

Minimum Qualifications

8-10 years of related instructional design and development experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Deep knowledge of adult learning theory and the human performance improvement (HPI) model and how to apply these theories in the design of learning experiences
Recent experience designing instruction for leaders including the design of multimedia training, paper-based training materials, and related documentation
Articulate 360, Captivate, Lectora or other e-learning development
Adobe Creative Cloud or similar
